I love a good story – how about you?

My name is Tracey Dowdy and even though I sometimes speak before I think, I love to think before I write.

Words have power. As a journalist, I understand that power and want to tell stories that change lives and truly make a difference.

Over the years, I’ve been a speaker, counselor, and leader in my local community. As a freelance journalist, I’ve written on topics as varied as parenting, education, technology, faith and even mental health.  Moving back to Fairfax, Virginia means I’ve added coverage of events in Washington, D.C. to my beat.

I’m a regular contributor to The Online Mom and I serve as editorial assistant to New York Times best-selling author David R. Stokes.

Good stories connect us – there’s nothing like that moment when you’re reading and think “Me too!” Some of those nearest and dearest to my heart are authors I’ve never met. Some of the most powerful influences in my life have been stories crafted by journalists who saw beyond the moment and told a compelling story about the people behind the headline.
